I will be honest, it was hard for me. I found myself more times than not heading to the Spectrum with "we could lose this game" mentality. I hate to admit it but it is the truth.
There wasn't that dominant feel of the Spectrum this year. Ok, not every game was that way but there wasn't the same spirit as in past years.
Enough of that negative stuff, the Aggies but on a great show for the last home game (if you forget about the first 20 minutes or so...) it was the Spectrum that so many of us know and love.
Senior Night began with a very emotional tribute and recognition to the careers of Brockieth Pane, Morgan Grim, and fan favorite Brady Jardine. Everyone knew it was going to be that way, just weeks before that night news broke that Brady was going to have a career ending surgery and would not return next year as previously thought.
Only ten days following his surgery Brady made his way down the tunnel and onto the Spectrum floor for the last time as an Aggie.
They say pictures speak 1000 words, where here are 2000 words
.

This was just the beginning of the tears for the night. The mood was very s
omber and thankful for the games Brady did play in. When he as given his jersey the whole Spectrum irrupted in in applause.

The first half Aggies looked like their normal selves for this season, but something happened at the end of the first half that changed the whole way the team played the
rest of the game. It was amazing. Down by 15 with 4:19 left in the first half the Ags went on a mini run and cut the half time deficit to 7. From that point on, it was all Aggie basketball. They took the lead four minutes into the second half and never gave it up, thanks to the outstanding play of a sophomore named Preston Medlin. He scored 27 points in the second half, 6 more points than the ENTIRE Idaho team combined! He was the first Aggie since 2006 to score 30+ points in a game. He couldn't miss either, he went 11-13 on the night and 5-5 from the three point line!

To cap it all off the last game in the Spectrum for the year, Kyisean Reed slammed home a monster dunk to remind us all the one who started electrifying dunks:

So as we wrap up another season of Aggie basketball we can remember this one for the heart ache and the joy, the bitter and the sweet. For you can't know the sweet with out the bitter, the pain of a loss with out the joy of a win.
If any thing remember November 11, 2011.
Nicely written, Ky. :)
ReplyDeleteOh Kylie. You are so great. It was definitely an interesting year, but just think: next year you really will be an Aggie! :)
